What makes a product ad actually work?
A product ad has one job: make a single product look worth buying in the second before someone scrolls past. These 25 come from 25 brands across beauty, fashion, home and wellness. The ones that work don't list features. They pick one reason to buy (it's new, it's proven, it's built differently, it's made for you) and let the product show it.
Say what's new, not just that it's new
Tarte defines its CC serum by what it isn't (“NOT a foundation. NOT a skin tint.”), Starface promises stickier stars with the same formula fans know, and PHLUR builds two launches on a best-seller. A launch only lands when the ad says what changed.
Let the product prove itself
Jones Road opens on a before-and-after, Peach & Lily puts clinical percentages next to the jar and Sunday Riley stacks “viral, clinically proven” with an Allure award. Proof beats adjectives.
Tell the story behind the design
Rare Beauty explains a perfume bottle made easier to use for people with limited dexterity, and Tracksmith ties a singlet to Roger Bannister's first sub-four-minute mile. A design story makes a premium price feel earned.
Make one product feel personal
Adore Me maps lingerie to all 12 star signs, Supergoop turns four products into a numbered fall routine and Brooklyn Candle Studio frames a candle as the perfect gift. The viewer finds themselves in the ad before they find the price.
None of this is unique to any one brand — it's a pattern across every ad below. Use the "why it works" note under each example to spot which lever a given brand is pulling, and borrow the tactic rather than the execution.
Product ad do's and don'ts
Do
- Lead with the one reason to buy this product now
- Show the product doing its job, not just sitting on a table
- Back claims with a number, a study or an award
- On a launch, say plainly what's new or improved
- Tell shoppers who it's for or when to use it
Don't
- Don't list every feature in the first line
- Don't run a launch ad that never says what changed
- Don't rely on a static pack shot for a product that needs a demo
- Don't make a clinical claim without showing the source
- Don't bury the offer if there is one

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a product ad?
An ad built around one product rather than a brand message or a storewide sale: a launch, a demo, a before-and-after or a single claim. On Meta it can be a video, an image or a carousel. Of these 25, 14 are video, 8 are images and 3 are carousels.
What makes a product ad convert?
One clear reason to buy, shown by the product itself. The strongest product ads here explain what's new (Tarte, Starface), prove the result (Jones Road, Peach & Lily, Sunday Riley) or tell the story behind the design (Rare Beauty, Tracksmith).
How should you advertise a new product launch?
Say what's different, not just that it's new. Five of these 25 ads are launches or upgrades. Tarte defines its serum by what it isn't, Glow Recipe sums up its lip balm in four words (“Soft Blur. Serious Care.”), Starface sells an upgraded formula and PHLUR builds two launches on a best-seller.
Should product ads use video or images?
Video when the product has to be seen working, images when one message or offer does the job. Dyson, Jones Road and Mott & Bow use video to show results and fit; Fabletics, Oura and Supergoop use a single image for an offer, a claim or a routine.
How do premium brands advertise a single product?
With a story or a demo that justifies the price. Tracksmith ties its singlet to running history, Rare Beauty explains an accessible bottle design and Dyson shows one tool that dries, curls, straightens and smooths.
Where do these ads come from?
Meta's public Ad Library — the same tool anyone can use to search active Facebook and Instagram ads. Every ad here was running when we captured it, and each card links to that brand's live ads in the Ad Library so you can verify it yourself.
How do you pick which ads to include?
Brand-first. We search brands that make their own products, keep product-led ads that were running when we checked, skip catalog ads with no written hook and keep one ad per brand. No brand on this page is repeated anywhere else in the library.
How often is this page updated?
Quarterly, with any ad that has stopped running replaced on the refresh.
Can I request my brand's ad be removed or credited differently?
Yes — contact us and we'll update or remove it. This page is an independent editorial showcase and isn't sponsored by or affiliated with any brand shown.
