Shopify Email Marketing Apps – 5 Apps We Use Every Day

Email marketing is a direct line to your customer’s hearts. And their wallets.

Year in and year out, email marketing data shows us that it’s overwhelmingly the most cost-effective marketing channel we have available.

In this roundup, we’ll take a look at our top five Shopify email marketing apps, including their features, pricing, and ease of use. We’ll also provide some tips and best practices to help you make the most of your email marketing efforts.

These are apps we use in our day-to-day agency work and on our own properties.

Whether you’re just getting started or you’re looking to improve your current campaigns, these Shopify email marketing apps are designed to help you achieve your goals.

Klaviyo

klaviyo email marketing app shopify

What it does really well:

Just about everything related to email marketing. And a little SMS marketing sprinkled in if that’s your jam.

This powerful tool allows you to easily create and optimize email flows tailored to your audience’s behavior. With Klaviyo’s flow builder, you can effortlessly segment your email lists and target the right people with the right message.

But that’s not all, Klaviyo also offers a comprehensive analytics feature that lets you measure and track the success of your campaigns. With data on open rates, click-through rates, and more, you can optimize your campaigns for maximum effectiveness.

Creating visually stunning emails that capture your audience’s attention is a cinch Klaviyo’s drag-and-drop builder, and its image gallery is perfect for adding high-quality images that make your emails look professional and engaging.

That said, the app has a bit of a learning curve until you really start flowing.

Where it falls short:

The number of available email templates is a bit limited, which can make it a pain to get am email campaign up and running quickly. Additionally, the price for the service is high when compared to other email marketing tools (but well worth it).

Pricing:

Klaviyo has a ton of pricing options that scale based on the number of customers you want to reach. Or the average DTC brand, the price will be in the range of $50–$200 per month.

Privy

What it does really well:

Are you tired of clunky and complicated opt-in form software? So were we until we started using Privy.

With Privy, designing, launching, and implementing opt-in forms has never been easier – and you won’t need any custom coding. Even the best Shopify email marketing apps still need an email list to get somewhere and Prify helps you get that list.

The drag-and-drop editor makes it a breeze to customize your forms to your exact specifications and create eye-catching designs that will have visitors signing up in no time. Plus, tracking website visits and conversions is simple and straightforward, so you can see what’s working and make adjustments on the fly.

But Privy’s features don’t stop there! Stand out from the crowd with the Spin-to-Win wheel feature, encouraging visitors to sign up for your email list. Use the cart upsells feature to boost sales and split-test different forms to see which ones bring in the most conversions.

We really can’t stress enough how big of a difference these, seemingly minor, features make on conversion rates.

Where it falls short:

Privy is a great email marketing tool that has plenty of features to help businesses grow their customer base. However, there are a few drawbacks that should be considered.

First, the split testing features could use some improvement. Although it has the basic features for split testing, some of the more complex features are a bit difficult to use.

Second, some of the embeddable forms provided by Privy are not compliant with GDPR regulations. Though the forms themselves are simple to create and use, businesses should make sure they are aware of the regulations and ensure their forms are compliant.

Pricing:

Free for up to 100 contacts. $45 a month for up to 3,000 contacts.

Omnisend

omnisend email marketing apps

What it does really well:

We think of Omnisend as a lighter version of Klaviyo. The features are somewhat comparable, but Klaviyo offers a lot more for advanced marketers.

With Omnisend, you can segment your email lists, create automated welcome emails, abandoned cart recovery emails, post-purchase follow-ups, and more.

Omnisend allows you to integrate with various platforms like Facebook, Google, and Instagram, giving you a comprehensive marketing strategy. In short, it does justice to its name and offers omnichannel marketing options.

Plus, with customizable templates, creating professional-looking emails is a breeze. And with Omnisend’s robust analytics tool, you can track the performance of your campaigns and make data-driven decisions.

Omnisend definitely deserves a spot on any list of the top Shopify email marketing apps, but we’ve found it to be not to everyone’s taste.

Where it falls short:

Omnisend is not as comprehensive as other options in the same category. Design options are relatively limited, and some other minor features didn’t seem to make the cut.

Pricing:

Free for up to 250 contacts. The next step up is $20 for up to 1000 which is a really sweet deal, all things considered. Omnisend is more affordable than Klaviyo generally speaking, so it might be a good starting point if you’re bootstrapped.

Seguno

seguno shopify email app

What it does really well:

In a lot of ways, Seguno is similar to most other email marketing apps. But the ways in which it is not are why it’s worth choosing.

For starters, Seguno has effortless Canva integration. As avid Canva enthusiasts, this makes our life 1,000% easier since we can use designs from Canva directly in our emails without the export/import dance.

Seguno’s conversion elements and components are second-to-none. Countdown timer GIFs, hero images, footers, it’s all there ready for you to compose your email masterpiece.

And, if you’re a complete Shopify email marketing beginner, Seguno is the best choice hands down. Seguno’s (FREE!) courses on email marketing make up a true masterclass that will get you from zero to hero.

Where it falls short:

Seguno is still growing, so it may take a little longer to get a reply from their support team if you run into an issue. But that’s about it.

Pricing:

Free for up to 250 contacts and $10/month for every 1,000 thereafter. It’s a pretty good deal, all things considered and you can bill through Shopify to keep things really simple.

OrderlyEmails

What it does really well:

This email marketing app isn’t so much about setting up your entire email architecture but more about setting up the basics in record time.

You can purchase a template pack with orderly emails and set up all your foundational emails like order confirmation, order cancellation, etc. It’s very simple, very fast, and quite affordable.

There are plenty of template packs to choose from and we consider it a baseline starter for any Shopify store. Sure, you’ll grow out of it, but at that point you’ll be ready to invest more time and money into email marketing.

Where it falls short:

It’s not an app for setting up full-fledged email marketing campaigns. It’s just right to get you off the ground and start building your email list.

Pricing:

$99/year for a template pack. The pricing couldn’t be simpler – you subscribe to a template pack and then you’re free to edit and use it on as many contacts as you can manage.

Why Email Marketing Is Non-negotiable For Ecommerce

Today, you have more opportunities than ever to reach your customers and drive sales. However, with so many channels to choose from, it can be overwhelming to decide where to focus your efforts.

Unfortunately, email marketing remains underused to this day, despite proving itself time and time again as the best conversion driver in e-commerce.

Here are just a few reasons why email marketing is non-negotiable for e-commerce businesses:

It’s Personal

Email allows you to communicate one-to-one with your customers. Unlike social media or paid advertising, where your message is broadcast to a wide audience, email allows you to tailor your message to specific individuals based on their past behavior and preferences.

Email Marketing Apps Automate Everything

With marketing automation tools, you can set up email campaigns that trigger based on specific customer actions, such as abandoning a cart or making a purchase. This allows you to nurture leads and convert customers without having to manually send each email.

And with email marketing apps making it so easy on Shopify, you’re really missing out if you don’t hop on the bandwagon.

Email Marketing is Measurable

Email marketing tools are a treasure trove of information that you can leverage to power a large part of your e-commerce strategy. You can even use email marketing KPIs as the foundational architecture of your entire marketing approach.

Unlike traditional marketing channels, email allows you to track and measure the success of your campaigns with metrics such as open and click-through rates. This data can be used to optimize and improve your future email campaigns.

Email Marketing Apps Are Cost-effective

Email marketing is one of the most cost-effective marketing channels available to e-commerce businesses. Unlike paid advertising or social media campaigns, email allows you to reach your customers directly without having to pay for ad space.

Plus, with the ability to segment your email lists and target specific groups of customers, you can ensure that your message is reaching the right audience, resulting in a higher ROI.

It’s a Great Way to Build Relationships

An e-commerce business that establishes long-term relationships with its customers, can ensure repeat customers, which is one of the key drivers of e-commerce revenue.

Email marketing is an excellent way to build and maintain these relationships by providing valuable content and personalized messaging.

Email Marketing Apps Make it Easy to Leverage Customer Data

An e-commerce business that is able to effectively leverage customer data can tailor its marketing campaigns and messaging to each individual customer.

Email marketing allows you to collect and analyze customer data, such as purchase history, browsing behavior, and email engagement, and use it to create more targeted and effective marketing campaigns.

Conclusion – The Best Shopify Email Marketing Apps

Ultimately, the best Shopify email marketing app for your business is one that aligns with your business needs, budget, and goals. With the right app in place, you’ll be able to effectively reach and convert your audience, driving sales and revenue for your business.

And, while these are some of the best email marketing apps out there, we highly advise experimentation. If you’re in the position to do so, seek expert advice from someone who has had the chance to try out multiple options in various verticals.
